…Art work
Like any other artist W. Moore (the author) struggled to find his artistic voice through different Medias. Writing was the first choice as he is a story teller, but due to limited formal schooling and being brought up in a Spanish culture to live his adulthood in a French/English community, he felt “handicaped” in the use of the written word.
At a young age W. Moore exhibited astonishing graphic skills, creating concepts through images, focusing in concepts more than on the details or the aesthetics of the piece; but in the combination of the two Medias (writing and graphic arts) is where the author found the best media to express and to tell his stories.
Originally, the base story was written in Spanish, but due to a technical failure the entire art work was lost, except for what remained in his mind. Later on the story was revisited and conceived as a collection of books made of paintings in the tradition of religious art combined with modern graphic novel’s style, but thanks to the input of prominent artist such as Vincent Bernier --whose philosophy is that “art belongs to all”--, “Demented” was reinvented as a graphic novel produced with the collage of different black and white pictures and other resources.
For the non commercial and purely artistic purpose of the story telling, we chose images of mayor personalities in the contemporary artistic scene
