Vanya, the First Vampire

Vanya was a creature of light that came from a world inside our world, between the northern and the southern poles, an exotic paradise covered on light with no nights to break the days. When she first found Vlad she was a little beautiful girl, far from the monster we know she became. Her races is one of many branches of the human race; but among them, very special ones can leave their material bodies and travel through the realms, dimensions and even time. They can also materialize their animal spirit and become one with them taking the shapes of centaurs, mermaid, gargoyles, fauns, werewolves and even angels.

His childhood was tainted by the entities (fictitious and real) that haunted the castle, until he was visited by an entity of light who came from another world; her name was Vanya with whom he would have a child named Vlad Tepes, better known as Dracula.

Mircea ”the Great” was prince of Wallachia from 1386 until his death. He was a powerful warrior in the war between the Holly Roman Empire and the Ottoman. When the time to wed came, Vlad was already married to a gorgeous and mysterious woman called Vanya, from unknown origins. Backed by her father, the church, the nobles and even prince Mircea, Vasilissa managed to have that marriage annulled. Vlad would not be forced into a loveless marriage, because the passion and love he had for Vanya was no less than addiction; so Vasilissa tried to have her killed, but she would not die, Vanya was immortal and she was pregnant at the time.

Characters

In the early 14th century, north of the Danube, Basarab I gained independence for Wallachia following a rebellion against Charles I of Hungary. In the year 1400, a boy was born in this mythical land, inheriting the ancient legacy of warrior princes who ruled over Wallachia: Vlad II, son of prince Mircea the Great from the House of Basarab came to this world costing his mother’s life. That night, prince Mircea rescued a gorgeous and mysterious woman with silver hair from an angry mob. The woman was accused of being a demon that killed the young virgins of the town. She foretold the death of the princess and the birth of the boy, bringing fear to all, but the child would only feed from her breast, and in time she became like a mother to him.

In 1405, Hungary sent four men to to the Barasab Castle, bring words of war. The blood of countless souls was spilled in the war against the Ottoman Empire that reshaped the world in the most volatile region of the planet at that time.

The heir of a Wallachian prince was expected to be strong and fearless, to keep and pass down the legacy of the formidable warrior princes of his bloodline, but Vlad was a boy like any other boy, innocent and in need of care and attention; however, being a normal child was never good enough for those born to this dynasty.

At six, Vlad was a beautiful and innocent boy who was afraid of the darkness. Tormented by night terrors, Vlad always tried to remain close to the light of the candles, hopping in vain to fall asleep before it would extinguish. Vlad suffered deeply because in a child’s mind, the monsters in the shadows are as real as you and I.

Fortunately, Dacianne the Foreigner was there since Vlad’s birth, with the maternal love that he craved since the death of if real mother. Dacianne a beautiful and mysterious woman, believed to be a witch who was rescued from an angry mob by prince Mircea, Vlad’s father.

Dacianne used to tell Vlad fantastic bedtime stories of wonderful and magical beings she used to call “The creatures of the Other Side”. In her stories, she said that a magical portal of time and space separated them and us, but some times, we could meet them and share with them the world of the dreams. She said they were neither man nor beast, but something greater. She said they were neither matter nor energy but something on between. She said we new them in different times with different manes: mermaids, centaurs, fauns, fairies, angels and even gods; and with time, Vlad came to discover that these were much more than fairytales.

But for Mircea the Great, Dacianne’s love was spoiling his child. The more loving, caring and fragile was Vlad becoming, colder and harder was his father with him; and is not because Mircea didn’t love him, on the contrary, Mircea wanted to prepare his son and give him the best chances to succeed in a world of war, betrayal and death.

But the night of the red moon, everything changed when Vlad faced his greatest fears and learned that he was not alone. The night of the lunar eclipse opened the portal to the other side and one of them, came to bring him light and chase away the darkness. Vanya, was a creature of light who came from far in time and space and in a dream the lived a live time together, but when the time came to go back, it was far too late for her, because all dreams must end, and she had already been touched by the darkness.
